Moving can be a big job, especially if you’re worried about getting your furniture from here to there.

That’s why furniture removals are best left to the experts here at Campbelltown Removals and Storage – especially if you have antiques or fine, quality furniture. A professional has all the training and equipment needed to help you move house. However, there are a few things that need to be done to get your furniture ready for the big day. Here’s what we can help you with.

  1. Take an inventory
  2. Disassemble First. Disassemble every piece of furniture you possibly can.
  3. Wrap it up & Store Cushions and Parts in Plastic Bags.
  4. Check the Accessways
  5. Use Blankets and Sheets to Protect your Furniture.
  6. Store Carefully and pack with care to Avoid Scratches.

Take an Inventory

Before you start taking any furniture out of your house, take stock of what you have. This allows you to make sure it’s all there when you arrive in your new home and lets you decide where you want it all to go when it arrives. You can write this down, room by room, so that nothing gets missed or lost.

Disassemble if Needed

Some pieces of furniture are too large to move through standard doorways and might not fit through windows. These items will need to be taken apart and safely wrapped and packed for the move. Keep the hardware with the piece and make sure you have directions for putting it back together when you get to your new house. Keep all of the pieces together too so that it’s not a guessing game as to what goes with what.

Wrap it Up

One of the best ways to protect your furniture, both wood and upholstery, is to wrap it up so that it’s not banged up or snagged while it’s moved. Wrap it well in plastic, which creates a safe barrier to your fabrics and woods and stills allows you to see what’s inside. We also wrap items in removal blankets, which adds another layer of protection so that nothing is damaged or broken during your move.

Pack with Care

As your furniture is loaded onto the removals truck, the biggest and heaviest items should go in first, followed by the smaller and lighter ones. This ensures that there’s room for everything and nothing is damaged during the move. If you need to store your furniture, we can help you with that, keeping it safe and secure until delivery day. If you opt for storage, be sure you only include items you won’t need until they are delivered and keep an inventory of what goes into storage so you can be sure it’s all there when it arrives.
